Mathematical Reasoning
GED Math Practice Test 3
Forty new multiple-choice questions, none repeated from Practice Tests 1 or 2. More than half are algebra, the same tilt as the official test, and the rest cover number operations, geometry, and data analysis.

Evaluate without a calculator: 18 − 6 ÷ 3 × 2
How Test 3 fits after Tests 1 and 2
Take this test after you have worked through Practice Tests 1 and 2 and reviewed what you missed. Because every question here is new, your score is a fresh check rather than a measure of how well you remember earlier items.
Compare all three results on the 100 to 200 scale. A score that holds at 145 or above across three different sets is much stronger evidence of readiness than one good attempt. If one topic keeps dragging the score down, go back to that topic’s study guide and drill before you test again.
Weighted toward algebra like the real test
About 55 percent of the official Mathematical Reasoning test is algebraic problem solving, so 22 of these 40 questions are algebra: systems of equations, factoring simple quadratics, functions shown as tables or described graphs, inequality word problems, exponent rules, and linear models of real situations.
The other 18 questions are split evenly among number operations, geometry, and data analysis. The number operations items are written to be solved by hand, like the short no-calculator first part of the real test, so practice them without a calculator.
Frequently asked questions
- Are any questions on Test 3 repeated from Tests 1 or 2?
- No. Every question on Practice Test 3 is new, so the result reflects what you can do now rather than what you remember.
- Why does Test 3 have more algebra questions?
- Algebraic problem solving is about 55 percent of the official math test. Test 3 matches that weight so your practice score reflects the real mix more closely.
